List of Requirements
- Demonstrate how to find directions during the day and at night without the aid of a compass.
- Use a compass to complete an orienteering course of at least one mile and requires the height and/or width of designated items.
- Since joining participate in 10 troop/patrol activities (3 must be campouts).
- Meals for a campout:
- Help plan a patrol menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner (2 must require cooking). Explain the food pyramid.
- Obtain ingredients for those meals for at least 3 boys showing cost and food amounts.
- Tell which pans, utensils and gear are needed to cook these meals.
- Explain procedures for safe handling and disposal of food (meat, dairy, eggs, vegetables and perishables.
- On a campout, do the patrol cooking. Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lead your patrol in saying grace and cleanup.
- Visit and discuss with an elected individual your constitutional rights and obligations.
- Identify or show evidence of at least 10 native plants in your area.
- Rope use:
- Discuss when to use and not use lashings.
- Demonstrate tying a timber hitch and clove hitch and their use by joining two or more poles together.
- Make a camp gadget using lashing.
- Demonstrate how to tie a bowline knot and tell its uses.
- First aid:
- Demonstrate bandages for a sprained ankle, head injuries, upper arm and collar bone.
- Show how to transport by yourself, and with another person, a person from a smoke-filled room and with a sprained ankle (25 yds).
- Tell the five common signs of a heart attack. Explain the steps of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Swim safety:
- Tell the precautions that should be taken for a safe trip afloat.
- Complete a BSA swimmer test
- With a helper and a practice victim, show a Line rescue as tender and as rescuer.
- Demonstrate Scout Spirit in your life.
- Invite a friend to join Boy Scouts.
- Scoutmaster conference.
- Complete a board of review.
