List of requirements

  1. Map skills
    1. Demonstrate how a compassworks and how to orient a map and what the symbols mean.
    2. Use a compass and a map on a five-mile (approved) hike.
  2. Participate at campouts
    1. Participate in Five activities (not troop meetings) two must include overnight camping.
    2. On a campout, select a site and sleep in a tent you pitch.
    3. On a campout demonstrate proper care, sharpening and use of the Knife, saw and ax, and how they should be used.
    4. Use a knife, saw or ax to Prepare fuel for a fire.
    5. Demonstate how to start a fires and stove.
    6. Light a fire and stove.
    7. On a campout, plan and cook a meal. Tell how to transport, store and prepare the foods you selected.
  3. Participate in a flag ceremony.
  4. Participate in an approved Service project for at least one hour.
  5. Identify at least ten wild animals in your area.
  6. First aid
    1. Show what to do in "hurry" cases (stopped breathing, serious bleeding and internal poisoning).
    2. Prepare a first-aid kit and take it on a hike.
    3. First-aid techniques
      • Object in the eye
      • Rabid animal bite
      • Puncture wounds (splinter, nail and fishhook)
      • Serious burns (second-degree)
      • Heat exhaustion
      • Shock
      • Heatstroke, dehydration, hypothermia and hyperventilation
  7. Water safety
    1. Tell precautions taken for a safe Swim.
    2. Pass a Boy Scout Swim test.
    3. Demonstrate water rescue methods.
  8. Participate in a drug abuse program and discuss it with your family.
  9. Demonstrate Scout spirit in your life.
  10. Scoutmaster conference.
  11. Complete a board of review.
